MU Stage 2 Requirements 'Overly Burdensome'

August 2nd 2013   This posting is taken from an article,"MU Stage 2 Requirements 'Overly Burdensome,' Say AHA, AMA" by John Commins, for HealthLeaders Media, July 25, 2013.

This burden is due to the EHR vendors not being able to upgrade their systems to meet Stage 2 requirements quickly enough for hospitals to meet the October 2013 implementation deadline. For physicians, the deadline is January, 2014. There are far fewer certified 2014 edition EHR products (9 EHRs) for inpatient healthcare settings and only 11 certified 2014 edition EHR products for ambulatory healthcare settings.

This places the burden on EHR vendors which are not certified 2014 edition to upgrade, and the hospitals using these EHRs to receive and implement the new versions in time to meet the Stage 2 implementation deadlines. Please click on the link below to read this important article.
